German holiday course for children
German is the language children in Zurich need most urgently. Our German Summer Camps are aimed at multilingual children living in Switzerland, who have recently moved to Zurich, or who are preparing to start school and want to strengthen their German skills.
The summer holidays are the perfect opportunity: five weeks of focused learning without school stress—instead with lots of movement and exploration.
The youngest (4–6 years) discover the language through play with painting, singing and dancing. Children aged 7 to 11 systematically build vocabulary and practise speaking freely in everyday situations. For teenagers aged 12 to 15, there are targeted tasks—from presentations to creative writing—to consolidate the language. There are also plenty of excursions into the city or to the lake, plus a shared lunch. Of course, everything is in German and led by native-speaking teachers.
Especially suitable for:
- Children from expat families preparing for school in Zurich
- Children with German as a second language who want to catch up during the holidays
- Children who will soon start school in Zurich

English holiday courses for children
English opens doors in this big wide world—and the earlier children learn English, the more naturally their feel for the language develops. In our English Summer Camps, children and teenagers learn in a relaxed summer atmosphere that doesn’t feel like school at all. Instead of textbooks, there are stories, games, small projects and lots of excursions into the city—of course all in English and led by native-speaking teachers.
For the youngest (4-6 years), playful discovery is top of the list: colours, animals, simple sentences through crafts or dancing. Children aged 7 to 11 systematically build vocabulary and practise speaking freely in everyday situations. For teenagers aged 12 to 15, there are targeted tasks—from presentations to creative writing—to consolidate the language.
Especially suitable for:
- Children who want to deepen their English
- Children from international families
- Teenagers preparing for exams or exchange programmes
More holiday courses in other languages
In addition to German and English, we also offer Summer Camps in other languages. This is ideal for children who want to learn a family language, are preparing to change schools, or simply want to discover a new language and culture out of curiosity.
French is not only Switzerland’s second national language, but also has a special status in Zurich, because children have French as a compulsory subject from Year 5. A holiday course can make it easier to get started or playfully deepen existing knowledge without the pressure of grades. Many older schoolchildren rediscover the joy of learning thanks to our holiday language courses—something they often lose amid school stress and grade pressure.
Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Polish, and Russian are available on request, subject to sufficient demand. Contact us and we will be happy to advise you personally on all available options.
All holiday courses can be booked by the week.

Age-appropriate learning
For the little ones aged 4-6
The morning starts with a welcome circle in the target language. Then playful language activities alternate with movement games, songs, crafts and short stories. The children learn without even noticing—through repetition, rituals and lots of fun.
For the Middle Group aged 7-11
Things get a little more structured here, but never boring. The children go on outings and work on small projects: writing their own mini-book in German, preparing a presentation about their favourite animal, cooking a recipe. In between, there are trips to the zoo, a picnic by the lake, or a scavenger hunt through the old town.
For the older group aged 12-15
The older students also go on outings and learn using interactive methods. They deepen their expression and grammar through topics that genuinely interest them—from social media and travel to music. Discussions, role plays and practical language learning with trips into the city are at the heart of it. The goal is to gain confidence and self-assurance in the target language so they can feel confident at school.
Why take holiday courses at Wordculture?
- Small groups with a maximum of 6 children: While other providers work with 10, 12 or more participants, with us every child is seen. Our teachers can support each child individually and respond to different needs.
- Native-speaking teachers with educational experience: All our teachers not only speak the target language, they also know how children learn—with patience, creativity and a feel for the right mix of challenge and fun.
- Bookable by the week: Not every family can plan five weeks in a row. That’s why our holiday courses can be booked flexibly by the week—whether one week, three weeks or the full five-week course.
- Central location: Our language school is at Selnaustrasse 2, right by Paradeplatz, between Stadelhofen station and Zurich HB. We’re easy to reach by tram, bus and S-Bahn. And after class, Lake Zurich is just around the corner.
- Creative activities included: Learning languages should be fun. You don’t only learn in the classroom, so excursions, art projects, cooking, music and films complement the lessons and give children the chance to use what they’ve learned in real-life situations.
- Discount with KulturLegi: We offer reduced rates for families with a KulturLegi. Just ask us about it.
