Language school with Childcare in Zurich

Learn languages while your child is looked after by professionals

Do you have children and want to learn German? Want to improve your English? Want to finally learn Italian for your holiday or prepare for ordinary naturalisation in Zurich, but what about your little one?

At Wordculture, you don’t have to choose. As the only language school in Zurich, we offer professional childcare alongside your language course—even for babies from 6 months old.

Why is there childcare at the language school?

For many parents in Zurich, childcare is the biggest obstacle to taking a German course. Daycare is full or too expensive. Family lives abroad. Your partner works full-time, and arranging a babysitter for just a few hours a week is complicated and costly.

That’s exactly the problem we solve. At Wordculture, childcare doesn’t take place somewhere else in the city, but in the same building as your language course. You bring your child, hand them over to our caregiver, and go to class. After the lesson, you pick your child up again. It doesn’t get any easier. So there are no more excuses.

This isn’t a coincidence—it’s a conviction: we believe that learning languages is a basic right for everyone, including parents with young children. From experience, we know that parents who don’t have to worry about their children learn with more focus and achieve better results.

The Family Package: learn languages as a family

Wordculture wants to support families in learning languages together. That’s why we developed the special family packages WordFamily in S, M or L. These are attractive price packages with discounts when you combine a language course and childcare, or when parents and children attend language courses at the same time.

WordFamily S

5%

Language course for mum/dad & childcare

WordFamily M

10%

Language course for mum/dad & language course for child

WordFamily L

15%

Language course for mum/dad & language course for child & childcare for siblings

Example: You attend a German course, your 7-year-old daughter takes an English course for children, and your 2-year-old son is looked after in childcare. That would be WordFamily L, and you would receive a total 15% discount on the entire invoice.

Your benefits at Wordculture

  • Expat parents: Are you new to Zurich? Do you miss having family nearby or a network that can look after your child while you learn German? Anyone who wants to integrate into the Zurich community, laugh along at the playground and talk to the landlord should learn German. Our childcare makes it possible for you to start a language course even if daycare places aren’t available yet or the waiting list is long.
  • Working parents: Do you want to improve your English for work? Do you need French or Italian for your job, or a language certificate for work? Between work, school and dinner, it’s often hard to find time to learn a language. At Wordculture, we make it possible thanks to our in-house childcare. Bring your child along and learn while your little one plays.
  • Parents in the Flexi course: Many participants in our free German course A1 / A2 are mothers with young children. Without childcare, attending the course would simply be impossible for them. At Wordculture, they can learn German while knowing their child is being cared for safely and lovingly in the same building.
  • Parents in the naturalisation course: Are you looking to apply for Swiss citizenship? Preparing for standard naturalisation is time-consuming and often requires an additional German course to obtain the required language certificate — telc or fide-test. Balancing work, family, and personal life is no easy task, which is why Wordculture offers professional childcare on site. This way, you can focus on your studies knowing your child is in good hands.

Courses for the whole family: everything under one roof

Everyone knows it: the kids need to go there and the parents need to go somewhere else. The hustle and bustle of modern everyday life is endless—but at Wordculture we have the solution: language courses for adults and language courses for children aged 4 to 12. In our school, we offer not only language courses and naturalisation courses, but also a year-round family programme including childcare and summer holiday courses for children. We are also an accredited exam centre for telc certificates and fide tests.

Student review

Without the childcare at Wordculture, I wouldn’t have been able to take my German courses from A1 to B1. We were new to Zurich and I didn’t speak any German. I sat at home all day while my husband worked all day. We have no relatives here. For me, the childcare was my lifeline. Now I can talk to people, take part in parents’ evenings with more confidence, and I’ve found a part-time job. Thank you so much, Wordculture!
