Spanish courses for children in Zurich

Learn Spanish for children aged 4 to 12

At Wordculture in the heart of Zurich, children learn Spanish in small groups of up to 6 participants. Our native-speaking teachers from Spain and Latin America create lively, age-appropriate lessons that playfully combine language and culture—whether as a first language, a family language, or an introduction to a new foreign language.

Why should children learn Spanish in Zurich?

Spanish is one of the fastest-growing languages worldwide. Not only in Latin America, but also in the USA, more than 40 million people now speak Spanish. For children growing up in a globalised world, Spanish is a real advantage: for university, in international companies, or when travelling on any continent.

Zurich also has a vibrant Hispanic community. Children who speak Spanish experience that their language doesn’t just exist in the classroom, but in the real world.

For families with a Spanish-speaking background, our courses offer the opportunity to systematically improve the heritage language. Many children speak Spanish at home but hardly read or write it. Our course fills exactly this gap, so the language continues not only orally, but also in writing.

During the summer holidays, we also offer a wide range of summer camps for children aged 4 to 15.

¡Hola, chiquitines!

Age group: 4-6 years

Spanish is one of the easiest languages to pronounce, because almost every letter is pronounced the way it is written. Little ones take advantage of this: they sing Spanish children’s songs, clap rhythms, dance, learn animal sounds in Spanish, and discover their first words through picture cards, games, and stories. Colours, numbers, body parts, simple greetings—everything is embedded in movement and repetition. From the very beginning, the teacher consistently speaks Spanish, and the children pick up these sounds surprisingly quickly.

1st-3rd Grade
Learning to read and write

Age group: 6-9 Years

From school enrollment, the course builds systematically. Children begin to read and write, and form their first sentences. Small projects boost motivation: drawing a comic in Spanish, presenting a favorite dish, performing a song, and much more. This keeps the lessons lively and interactive despite reading and writing. Cultural insights are naturally included: How is Día de los Muertos celebrated in Mexico? What do children in Colombia eat for an afternoon snack? What is the difference between Spanish in Madrid and Spanish in Buenos Aires?

4th-6th Grade
Becoming independent

Age group: 9-12 Years

Older children increasingly work with texts, dialogues, and everyday situations that truly interest them: travel, sports, music, animals, social media. Grammar is deepened, vocabulary is expanded, and thanks to small groups, free speaking is strongly encouraged, because what good is a language you can't speak? Spanish is a language you have to experience, not just cram. At this level too, comics, short films, role-playing, and music projects keep the lessons light and engaging.

Student review

We are a Colombian-Swiss family. Although we speak Spanish at home, we are not teachers and we wanted our daughter to learn Spanish properly. At Wordculture, she improved her Spanish and made friends with other children. We are very happy about that.
