Why should children learn Italian in Zurich?
Italian holds a special place in Zurich. The Italian-speaking community is large and vibrant, and many families want to ensure their children do not lose the language of their grandparents or relatives in Italy. Our course gives these children the opportunity to systematically maintain their family language, not just orally, but also in writing.
At the same time, Italian is a national language of Switzerland and opens numerous doors for every child, whether in Ticino or in Italy. Children who learn Italian discover a world of art, history, and music. In this way, children learn a language that is understood and valued far beyond Switzerland.
During the summer holidays, we also offer a wide range of summer camps for children aged 4 to 15.

Ciao, bambini!
Age group: 4-6 years
Children at this age quickly fall in love with the melody of the language. Italian is one of the most melodic languages in the world, and that is exactly what our teachers leverage. The little ones sing Italian children's songs, listen to short stories, play finger games, and learn their first words: from the alphabet to numbers, the lessons are conducted in Italian—all through play, movement, and repetition.

Parlare, leggere, scrivere
Age group: 6-9 Years
After school enrollment, lessons become more structured but remain equally interactive. Children build vocabulary, learn to form simple sentences, and begin reading and writing. Creative projects keep motivation high: reenacting a pizzeria in the classroom, writing a postcard to Nonna, designing a poster about holidays in Italy. In addition, lessons provide cultural insights from festivals to food and geography.

Student review
Our children are growing up bilingual: German and Italian. It was important to us that the children don’t just half-master both languages, but speak them perfectly. Our children love going to Alessandra’s language course and always write messages in Italian to their Nonna on Sundays.

Frequently Asked Questions
At what age can my child start learning Italian?
From age 4. We distinguish between 3 age groups: 4-6, 6-9, and 9-12 years. This is the only way to ensure age-appropriate teaching. When it comes to languages, the motto is: the earlier, the better.
We already speak Italian at home. Is a course still worth it?
Yes. We recommend booking language courses for native-speaking children, as they strengthen written competence and formal expression, both of which will be a great advantage later in life. Children who don’t attend a structured course and learn the language through listening alone often pick up errors and feel uncertain when using the language.
Can the course also take place online?
Yes. By arrangement, all our courses can also be booked online.
Is there exam preparation available?
Upon request, older children can be prepared for the CELI exam in private lessons.
